Offered here is a “limited edition” limited edition. This gorgeous 1970 AAR ‘Cuda is one of the less than 2,500 produced as part of the one-year-only vehicle package Plymouth did for their SCCA racing program, but it is also only one of just 4 the factory produced as-equipped. A code Y07 export model sold new at Crosstown Motors in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the car has also received a comprehensive restoration to like-original specs, with a window sticker and copy of the broadcast sheet included in the sale.
Released for racing parts homologation during 1970 only, one feature not directly related to that project was the special 290 HP/340 6-BBL V-8 LA-series engine, which is matching-numbers to the car. Never offered again, it included unique head castings and a trio of Holley 2-barrel carburetors as well as side-exiting exhaust right from the factory. This is backed by an A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission and the 8.75 SureGrip-equipped rear end with a 3.91 axle ratio. The suspension was also special, with fast ratio power steering, power brakes with front discs, heavy-duty shocks, and swaybar upgrades as standard on this model only.
Of course, the FM3 High Impact Moulin Rouge paint (which Dodge called Panther Pink) is itself outrageous, but here it really stands out thanks to the AAR’s black fiberglass fresh air hood, spoiler package, exclusive strobe graphics with AAR logo, and, here, day-two factory rear window louvers. Inside is the black vinyl bucket seat interior, complete with remote driver’s mirror, Solid State AM radio, center console and ball-knob SlapStik shifter. The spare with an inflator bottle is in the trunk. Outside are special chrome exhaust tips, functional hood pins, rear-mount radio antenna, ribbed lower rocker moldings, dual outside body-color mirrors and 15-inch Rallye wheels that now feature a set of raised white-letter Cooper radial tires.
When new, this AAR was fairly expensive, with a C4,700.00 Canadian sticker price as optioned. Here you can own exclusivity in what has now become the most valuable Mopar small-block model ever released. Limited edition, indeed!
