This 2018 Chevrolet Yenko/SC Camaro is Build No. 1 of 25 produced by Specialty Vehicle Engineering, a long-time partner of General Motors in the production of specially modified, fully warrantied GM performance vehicles. In 1969, Pennsylvania Chevrolet dealer Don Yenko collaborated with Chevrolet Product Promotions Manager Vince Piggins to produce a limited run of special Camaros under the Central Office Production Order (COPO) program, comprising the iron-block Yenko 427 Super Camaro and the all-conquering, all-aluminum big-block-powered ZL1—the hairiest Camaro of the original muscle car era.
Flash forward to 2018, and the original Yenko Super Camaro is reborn in the SVE Limited Edition Yenko Camaro SC Stage II. Like the original Yenko ZL1 Camaros, the heart of this car is its all-aluminum V-8 engine, a custom-built piece based on the 6.2L LT1 V-8 first seen in the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Blueprinted, it packs a computer-balanced, racing-quality rotating assembly comprising a 4340 forged steel crank, H-beam connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, CNC-ported high-flow cylinder heads, SVE’s proprietary High-Output Supercharger and an upgraded fuel system and injectors. Rated at 825 HP and 760 lb–ft of torque, this hand-built torque monster V-8 drives a 6-speed manual transmission with active rev matching that is backed by a limited-slip differential, producing sensational performance that must be experienced to be appreciated.
Following Yenko’s practice of high-impact visuals, this car announces its special nature to one and all with special Yenko body side stripes, prominent “Yenko” and “825 HP” exterior badging, a large non–functioning hood scoop, black powder-coated Yenko engine covers and “SYC” and “Yenko” interior insignia; each car also gets five-spoke Gunmetal wheels with machined lips and sYc center caps, Yenko-badged brake calipers and a “Yenko 825HP Supercharged” badge with the vehicle build number. Finished in Mosaic Black with a Jet Black leather interior, Build No. 1 features heated and ventilated power front seats, a heated steering wheel, a Bose stereo, HID headlamps and a rear vision camera. It has been driven just 164 miles and is well documented with the window sticker, Specialty Vehicle Engineering Certificate of Origin and a copy of the original bill of sale.
